Jae & Denise’s Wedding — California Grand Hotel-Disneyland

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

My cousin Jae got married!

The ceremony was a traditional Catholic ceremony (This was my first Catholic wedding, and indoor wedding in a long time).

Here is Jae before the ceremony started.

The Alter Boy and his niece Nicole- A junior bridesmaid.

His sister Kimi was also a bridesmaid.

His niece Ashley was the flower girl.

Denise and her mom walking down the aisle together.

Denise and her mom giving an offering to Mary.

I now pronounce you husband and wife. You may kiss the bride!

Yay!

Family picture of Jae’s side of the family.

Ashley and Leah.

After the ceremony we all headed to Disneyland! The reception was at the California Grand hotel in downtown Disney.

If you don’t remember I did Jae and Denise’s engagement photos at Disneyland as well.

Their guestbook.

Seating arrangements.

Here’s my name :)

There was a cocktail hour outside in the courtyard with appetizers. And we moved inside.

My sister and me with Jae’s parents (aka our aunt and uncle)

And the reception was in one of the ballrooms and was beautifully decorated!

Jae changed into a hanbok. He is very proud of his Korean heritage :)

And they did Paebaek too! Paebaek is where the new husband and wife bow to their elders as a sign of respect.

So here they are bowing to Jae’s grandma.

And to Jae’s parents.

Here they are at the head table while the best man gives his speech.

And here’s our menu. The food was delicious!

Jae and Denise strayed away from the traditionl dancing with the parents and Denise danced with Jae’s dad and Jae danced with Denise’s mom.

Mickey and Minnie showed up too! They came for the cutting of the cake and to take pictures with the guests.

The cake was awesome!

If you read about Jae and Denise’s engagement- Jae proposed to Denise on the Storybook ride.

There were also a bunch of hidden Mickey’s on the cake (like at Disneyland). So there was a game everyone was able to play. They had to write where all the Mickey’s were and names were put into a raffle.

Here’s some of Jae’s family taking pictures with Mickey and Minnie.

The Bridal party.

And of course, me and my sister had to get a picture in as well!

And now here’s the fun! Dancing!

And last but not least a round of shots at the end of the night with Jae!

I will be setting up an online gallery of all the pictures within the next few days. If you went to the wedding, or was supposed to be there, or wished that you were there email me at chrissy@chrissykim.com or contact me through the contact page, or message me on facebook (at the bottom of the page, there is a link to my facebook page) and I will send you the link. Obviously there are a lot more pictures that I want to share with the family! And sorry Denise, but a lot of the photos are of Jae’s side of the family! (Probably because my aunts and uncles kept grabbing me and having me take pictures of them)

Anyways, I hope you enjoyed the pictures!

Cheon Kyung & Choon Ja Kim’s 25th Anniversary – Vowel Renewal

Saturday, July 3rd, 2010

What’s a great way of spending your 25th Wedding Anniversary?

Renewing your vows!

What’s even better?! When you don’t have to plan it yourselves and your kids do it for you!

James and Mark wanted their parents to celebrate their silver anniversary by having them renew their vows. They invited some family and a few close friends and had the ceremony at the Carmel Mountain Ranch Country Club.

Putting on the boutonnieres.

Family picture before the ceremony.

Getting ready to walk down the aisle.

James conducted the ceremony.

Exchanging of the rings.

He looks a little scared.

Much better!

Here’s grandma praying for the ceremony.

You may now kiss the bride!

You can kiss me on the cheek!

How about… not!?

Group photo with their family and friends.

Family photo!

They also had a reception with dinner. Here’s their pretty cake!

It’s such a blessing to see a a loving family. I wish you guys the best next 25 years! :)

Sarah & Kevin’s Wedding – Pabaek

Friday, June 25th, 2010

As you know, I did not take photos of the wedding during the ceremony. But I did get an opportunity to take photos during pabaek. Which is a korean tradition where the new husband and wife pay respect to the elders in their family.

Here’s Sarah and Kevin in their Hanboks.

Kevin’s grandma. There’s a tradition where dates and stuff are thrown and the couple has to catch it. It has something to do with how many children they are going to have.

Bowing to Kevin’s parents.

These are Kevin’s uncles. The men you need to impress. ;)

And Kevin’s aunts.

Sarah’s Grandparents. They’re getting envelopes!

Sarah’s Mom.

Another tradition is where the groom has to piggy back his new wife.

I love the bright,  vibrant colors. I told Sarah we have to do a couples shoot in their hanboks on a later date!

Sarah & Kevin’s Wedding – The girls Preparation

Friday, June 25th, 2010

So being a girl is hard. It’s not like being a guy were you can just get up, take a shower, wash your face and put some gel in your hair and you’re off and ready to go.

For girls, you have to wash your hair the night before because if you clean your hair the day of doing it, it wont stay. Dirty hair is better. You have to get your make up done. Do your hair. Then you have to make sure when you change, your hair and make up don’t get messed up.

Anyways, here are the pictures!

In the morning after our slumber party, eating bagels and yogurt.

Some of the girls getting ready.

While waiting for the make up artist to finish up the girls, Sarah was able to take a nap and text on her phone.

It was then time for her to start getting ready.

Look at her pretty dress.

And here she is all done and pretty :)

Here she is in deep thought, thinking about Kevin??

And here she is, excited to get married!! :)

The next post will be of the paebaek. I couldn’t take photos during the ceremony, because, well, I’m not going to be standing up there with my camera around my neck. (That’s what the rehearsal was for).

I’m keeping these posts a little light because I’m posting them as I am editing them. So I’m posting a little bit at a time rather than the whole thing.

Sarah & Kevin’s Wedding – The Day Before

Wednesday, June 23rd, 2010

Kevin and Sarah got married! This post however will be about the day before the wedding- aka setting everything up and the rehearsal dinner.

Look at Robin hard at work! bringing the chairs outside.

As it takes both Shawn and Kevin to bring and empty roller back into the country club ;)

Here are 2 of the groomsmen, Shawn and Allen pretending to work. Just kidding. They were waiting for the cart.

During the rehearsal just messing around.

Oh, Grace. (She was one of the bridesmaids)

Sarah the Bride to be with the ring bearer and the flower girl.

Look at me!

Kevin’s Dad and Mom

Sarah’s Grandma and Mom.

Sarah and her Grandpa

Kevin bowing.

Rehearsing.

Everyone else has photos of all the other preparations. The slave work that Sarah had us do ;) Like making chocolate covered strawberries with a graham and oreo outside. Building tables. Filling boxes.

I like to keep things a little bit prettier ;)

This next part is when the girls finally get to the hotel room. We stayed at the US Grant Hotel in Downtown San Diego.

We got some complementary chocolate covered strawberries (none of the girls really wanted to eat them because we had spent 2 hours right before making a whole bunch of them! and we got complementary champagne!)

Here’s Sarah popping the Champagne.

Me and Phung drinking the champagne!

And the bride to be jumping on the bed!

Don’t worry Kevin, we didn’t do anything crazy. We were just so exhausted we stayed in.

The next post will be the morning of the wedding getting ready!!!

Trinette & Mikes Wedding – Prom Cam

Wednesday, June 2nd, 2010

What is a prom cam? It’s basically a photographer stationed in front of a backdrop.

Usually, the first photo is ‘normal’ and then the photographer tries to get the 2nd picture to have a little bit more personality.

Trinette and Mike’s prom cam guy didn’t show up (shady huh?) so being as I was the 2nd photographer for their wedding, they asked if we could set a prom cam up.

Do you remember high sschool dances? and the awkwardness of the photos? Well these guys nailed it!

Awkward family photos :)

Even Mike’s parents got into the action!

And last but not least, a group pictures of the ladies!

I’ve added the prom cam into my services. I’m still debating if I want to get a photobooth. Being a small girl that I am, it would be hard for me to transport from event to event.

Having a prom cam let’s people loosen up a little bit and guarantees getting photos of people who normally wouldn’t want to get their photo taken.

Trinette & Mike’s Wedding

Monday, May 31st, 2010

Trinette and Mike got married at Tilden Regional Park in Berkley, California.

I love to travel. It doesn’t matter if its an hour away or a different country. I love exploring and going to new places. I’ve been to Berkley before, but not to Tilden Regional Park. Going to places outside of where you live is always fun!

If you haven’t figured this out about me yet, I love doing things that are creative. My style is more about photo journalism. Yes, I do the formal photos and all but they don’t show my creativity so I don’t usually post those photos on my blog or website.

Anyways, time for the pictures.

One of my favorite pre-wedding photos are the rings, because it’s fun trying to figoure out how I’m going to photograph them.

The way that guys get ready and the way girls get ready are so different.

The groom had time to take a nap!

Girls on the other hand, we have a lot more to do :)

Here are the ladies getting ready.

Us girls, we learn at a young age ;)

Trinette and Mike wanted to do the big reveal before the wedding ceremony.

I shot as a 2nd photographer- the main photographer was Christine Chang. So most of my shots are wide angle shots as Christine got shots up close.

Now it’s time for the ceremony!

I love it when the brides have fun walking dow the aisle.

I love the greenery of the background!

After the ceremony, we took some formal shots.

I love jumping shots! It shows you a little bit of everyone’s personalities.

I have to add this photo in. Its crazy how high in the air he got! It would have been even better if I had gotten mom’s dissaproving look in the photo as well.

Off to the reception.

First dance.

Father Daughter dance.

Mother Son dance.

Bouquet toss!

So those were some of the snippets of Trinette and Mike’s wedding.

Stay tuned for the next post of the PromCam photos from their wedding!

Esther and Daniel Rehearsal Dinner – Cabo San Lucas, Mexico

Monday, May 10th, 2010

This is from Esther and Daniel’s Rehearsal Dinner at the Esperanza Resort in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico.

I did not take a lot of these photos, because I am in them and I was part of the wedding party. So I handed my camera off to someone else (thanks Gary!) so that some of the moments could be captured.

Here we all are lining up to head down in our order to the beach.

(I’m the one in  the maroon/gray dress)

Daniel and his groomsmen.

Here’s the bridesmaids.

Gary laughed after he took this picture :/

Practicing.

Everyone who was invited to the wedding was also invited to the dinner portion of the rehearsal dinner. It was a taco bar! and it was freakin delicious!

It was a bit cold and windy, so a bunch of us went to sit around the fire pit.

After the dinner, Esther had a sleepover with the bridesmaids. We chilled on the balcony where there was a private spa. Then we opened out bridesmaids gifts.

We got pearls! :)

Here we are the morning of the wedding taking a shot of something that was brought down to us on the beach.

Brunch with out drinks!

And some of the flower bouquets.

So those are the pictures from all the events leading up to the wedding.

For pictures from the wedding, you can visit Christine Chang’s website and photo blog.

Esther and Daniel Courthouse

Wednesday, April 28th, 2010

Esther and Daniel went to the Beverly Hills Courthouse and got their civil marriage done. Because they are getting married in Mexico, the rules are a little bit different, so they had to get a civil marriage done.

I of course, went with them to not only be their photographer but as their witness.

Here they are signing the paperwork

Waiting for the judge to call them so they can have their ceremony.

Here they are standing in front of the judge.

Poor thing started to cry.

I now pronounce you Husband and Wife. The judge even threw some flowers up in the air.

You may now kiss the bride!

Here I am signing as their witness. (It looks like I just woke up :/ don’t hate)

Yay! They’re married!

Their  real wedding ceremony is this weekend in Cabo San Lucas at the Esperanza Resort.

I unfortunately will not be able to take pictures during the ceremony (because I’m the Maid of Honor) but will be able to take pictures throughout the trip! Christine Chang is the wedding photographer so check her website later for pictures from the wedding!
